Sex texting jobs are another alternative for PSO’s working from home and for those seeking phone sex jobs.

So what exactly is sex texting?

Basically, you type from your home computer to customers who are receiving your messages on their cell phones. Most of the large sex text companies seem to be based in the UK, as are the customers.

You get paid (usually) per message. The faster you type and the faster you think, the better you’ll do. Still, even the best texters probably earn less than ten dollars per hour.

The pay that sex texters earn is nowhere near what a skilled phone sex op can make with a trolling company or as an independent but probably is very comparable to what an entry level dispatch PSO makes with one of the big “phone sex factory” type companies.

For women with young children, it works as a second gig (or as an alternative to phone sex jobs) for when the kids are home and they can’t do calls. It also attracts men who want to work from home and others who just aren’t comfortable doing phone sex for whatever reason.

There’s an interview here with a guy who worked as a sex texter in the UK. The article contains some pretty good info about the ins and outs of paid sex texting work.

If you’re seriously considering sex texting work, I’d strongly suggest signing up at the Textilicious sex texting forums. There you will find a list of sex texting companies who employ home workers, service reviews and you’ll be able to ask questions and get answers from current and former sex text workers. Textilicious also offers loads of info on PSO jobs, cam work and other work at home jobs and is a nice place to network or relax between calls.

Some really great blogs by our fellow phone sex workers are now linked on the sidebar here.

Ruby Grace has a well written and extremely helpful blog over on LiveJournal. One her recent posts is a must read for those starting out on Niteflirt.

I’ve also added Principal Quattrano’s Phonesex Blog where she writes about her experiences with callers, politics of phone sex work and topics of interest. Also see Principal Quattrano’s HTML & PSP Tutorials written with Niteflirt flirts in mind.

The newest link I’ve added is Secondhand Rose a blog by a “writer turned phone companion and conversationalist”.

Grab a cup of tea, coffee or your favorite beverage to read by, get comfy and have fun.

Combo Companies& Dispatch Companies& Phone Sex Job Search& Phone Sex Jobs& Phonesex Forums& Trolling Companies

In my last post, I referred you, my dear readers, to the existing PSO message boards & communities to do your research before applying for phone sex jobs. In this post, I am going to issue a few “warnings” or maybe a better word would be – “disclaimers”.

* Don’t reject a company out of hand based on one person’s opinion. Get all the input you can, and consider reviews from many sources. If you hear the same kinds of complaints about a company over and over in more than one place, well then, you can conclude that you are hearing the truth.

* Make sure you get some input from people who actually have worked for these companies. Second-hand info is not always bad – news travels fast about bad companies and many of us feel we have a duty to warn – but you should also try to get info from current contractors for a company *and* from former contractors who aren’t currently employed by the company.

* Google is your friend. Sometimes info about a company can show up in unexpected places on the Internet. It pays to do a few quick searches on the company name, phone number, web address etc.

* Go with your gut. Pay attention to how you are feeling about the people who represent the company when you contact them. How they treat you during the application process can give you important clues about how they will treat you once you are working for them. If you don’t feel good about the process, don’t sign on. Keep looking.

Blind Phone Sex Worker Gets Stiffed Comments (0)

Adult Industry News& Application & Interview Tips& Phone Sex Job Search& Turnkey call platforms

I’m a little late weighing in on this one, but I just can’t let this slip by without saying my peace. Besides, it ties in with a topic I’ve been wanting to discuss here for quite a while and it makes a great cautionary tale for newcomers to the world of phone sex jobs on the Internet. Anyway, here’s the story:

A phone sex operator said she’s owed big bucks for talking dirty. She also said that phone sex operators aren’t at all what people who call them are lead to believe.

read more | digg story

So, it seems the lady interviewed in this story, Janice Huge, was a frequent caller on a chat line. On that chat line, she was approached by a woman & recruited to work as paid phone sex worker for a company by the name of Erotic Communications. Said company’s business model consisted of creating profiles on Niteflirt and then having the calls ring on the phone numbers of ladies who were being recruited off this chat line. Big promises were made in terms of earning potential…but when it came time to get paid, Ms. Huge and apparently, some of the other women recruited by Erotic Communications did not get paid.

Intriguingly, there was a whole range of reactions to Ms. Huge’s story from other phone sex workers on the various PSO boards and forums. The vast majority of phone sex workers who use Niteflirt.com are independents who are in business for themselves. The reactions from these independent PSO’s ranged from outrage that yet another phone sex company was taking advantage of a fellow phone sex worker who also happens to be handicapped to outrage at Ms. Huge herself for “sinning” against the industry with the statements she made to the press.

Most of the “Flirts” who commented on the phone sex forums were annoyed & upset (rightfully so, IMO) that Niteflirt itself, rather than this phantom middleman company, was taking the heat for not paying a handicapped woman for work performed. Dear Madame’s blog entry, entitled Don’t be Dissin’ My Niteflirt, represents that viewpoint well.

Some “Flirts” were skeptical of Ms. Huge’s claim that she was owed $8,000 – it’s not too common to be able to earn that amount in the few short weeks that Ms. Huge was employed by Erotic Communications. I attribute the $8000 figure to exaggerated claims and promises made to Ms. Huge when she was hired by Erotic Communications. She was told she’d be paid something like $2.00 per minute for talk time so perhaps based on minutes worked, she really did believe she was owed that much. The reason why it would be well nigh impossible for a Niteflirt “middleman” type company to pay a PSO 2 dollars per minute was broken down rather well by a lady known on Niteflirt as “The Principal” or Principal Angela Quattrano. PAQ also offers a great explanation of how Niteflirt works for independents versus how it works for those who work for “middleman” companies….and shares her own experience as a contractor with this type of “middleman” company. Many were also mystified as to why Ms. Huge and others would work for so long without seeing a paycheck.

Some PSO’s were outraged that Ms. Huge made the following statement to the press:

…..the ads for phone sex lines are deceiving.

“It’s all a fraud, the pictures online are of a model. The person you talk to is not the real person,” Huge said.

I think here, Ms. Huge is speaking from her own limited experience as an online phone sex worker. It’s a fact that *some* phone sex sites do use models to represent some of the voices you speak to on the phone. This information does not come as a shock to most of the men who use our services. There are some sites that use models, some use erotic cartoons instead of photos, some phone sex lines use no photos or images at all, and lo and behold -  some phone sex workers actually do publish images of themselves on their sites and even offer streaming video to their callers! It’s the call that counts…and as with most things in life, there are different strokes for different folks and on the great big smorgasbord of online phone sex and cam sites, there truly is something for everyone. It was Ms. Huge’s reality as a contractor for Erotic Communications that she was “pretending” to be a model in a photo chosen by her employer – but this is not the reality for every phone sex worker nor is it the only way to do business especially on Niteflirt.com where you find such a diverse group of men and women offering erotic chat and webcam services. So yea, although it’s rather distasteful to hear such a blanket condemnation of phone sex work as “fraud” – I think we have to put Ms. Huge’s statement in perspective and just take it from where it comes – her own limited experience and her anger over not being paid.

To sum up, what can be learned from Ms. Huge’s experience that can help those who are new to this business?

1. Know who you’re working for. Make sure you have a contact name, business address, and a working telephone number for someone who hires you without a face to face interview. This may seem obvious but it’s so easy to get wrapped up in big promises and the hope of working from home that some forget to do their homework.

2. Research the company as much as possible before accepting a position. Google it! Enter the company name and the contact person’s name in the search engines and READ your results. Visit the phone sex forums that I link to here, ask questions and read old posts to find info about your company.

3. Be wary of companies that “use the Niteflirt platform for billing” or “set up a profile for you”. It’s just way too easy for anyone to join Niteflirt, set up a few profiles and maybe a website and declare themselves a “company”. No investment is required except maybe a few dollars for photos, no credit check, no background check, no experience nothing. Lots of abuses seem to occur with these Niteflirt-based phone sex companies so go back to step two and RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH (and read Principal Quattrano’s blog again) before you accept a position with a Niteflirt-only company. Also, you must ask yourself – what are they doing for me that I could not be doing for myself with my own Niteflirt account? Lots of these companies promise to advertise for you, but after you accept the position you may find that the call volume just is not there.

4. Be wary of exaggerated claims of earning potential. Though there are quite a few experienced and talented PSO’s who earn upwards of $1000 dollars per week, this is not the norm for a raw newcomer to the business. Expect it to take a while to get up to speed if you have no sex work experience. Do the math with your per minute rate also. Remember you get paid for talk time only (in most cases). Just because people compliment you on your sexy voice or your boyfriend digs the way you get him off over the phone – doesn’t mean you’ll make thousands your first week as a professional phone sex op. For most of us, it takes a while to build repeat business, to learn the intricacies and the off-the-beaten-path fetishes that some of our callers like to talk about. Any company that promises you thousands your very first week as a phone sex op, is probably a company you should avoid.

5. Don’t be afraid to abandon a sinking ship. If you aren’t paid on time or if (horrors!) your paycheck bounces, it’s time to seek employment elsewhere. Again, it may seem as though I’m stating the obvious, but in my six years of involvement in PSO & work at home forums and communities, I’m truly shocked to see how long some of us will hang on in hopeless situations or accept treatment that workers in the “real world” would never stand for. There are other phone sex companies and other work at home jobs. Never operate from a position of desperation!

I haven’t seen an update to this story anywhere. Will Ms. Huge get her money? I will keep my readers posted if or when I find out.

Phone Sex Company Reviews & Other New Links Comments (0)

Phone Sex Job Search& Webcam Jobs

If you want to read reviews written by other PSO’s before applying to work for a phone sex company, you can visit & join any one of the new forum links that I’ve added to the sidebar. PSO Chat & Support has a well-organized database of phone sex company reviews with honest input from PSO’s who’ve worked for them. Open discussion & questions are supported and negative information is not stifled or deleted in this group.

Another good resource – “Doxy Wringer” of PhoneSlutDiary.com has interviewed several phone sex company owners and written some company reviews for job applicants in her phone sex worker resource section.

I am also linking to SexyJobs.com and Adult Staffing, which are, I’d say, the two major adult / sex industry job resources on the Internet. I think I am still using an affiliate link for Sexy Jobs, but I have never made a dime from recommending them so it’s strictly a public service, folks. : )

Do beware when using SexyJobs and Adult Staffing, especially if you post a resume. In fact, if asked, I would advise against posting personal contact information on those sites and just browse, search and contact the companies yourself. Sexy Jobs in particular is rife with guys who troll and pose as “employers” and ask you to “audition” for a phone sex job or cam employment. Reliable companies with real job opportunities do not ask for phone sex “auditions”. You will most certainly be asked to call in so they can hear your voice and they may ask you questions pertaining to how much you know and your comfort level with fetishes – but they are not going to ask you to moan or to engage in a phone sex call with a male staff member. If you are asked to do these things, look elsewhere. Yahoo, Gmail and Hotmail email addresses are another red flag. Anyone representing a REAL company should have an email address set up on their website domain (if they have a website) – something like janedoe@phonesexcompany.net, for example. If they are a company without a website, then at the very least they should be using an email address associated with an Internet service provider – cable or DSL company and so on. If you do decide to go the resume-posting route on an adult job search site, proceed with caution when anyone contacts you and make sure everything they are telling you checks out before going further and giving out your personal information and/or giving them an “audition”.

Application & Interview Tips& Phone Sex Job Search

Types of Phone Sex Companies

Before applying with a phone sex company, it’s important to be familiar with the types of companies that are out there. Here is an explanation of four main types of services that employ work at home performers:

1. Dispatch companies – the phone sex company handles all the advertising. A dispatcher gets the clients’ payment information and finds out his preferences and routes the calls to you. The pay is usually lower because less is expected of you. You may be required to have a headset, a corded phone and a second phone line just for work, depending on the company. Many dispatch companies expect you to be able to handle just about any kind of character/age group/ethnic background and no conversation is taboo at some companies. Pay ranges from .07 cents per minute up to .70 cents a minute and a select few services pay as much as a dollar a minute for experienced talent. Average pay seems to be from .25 to .55 cents for most dispatch companies. A few of the large companies have a sliding pay scale which can be rather confusing and difficult for new ops to attain the higher pay rungs, so beware of this.

2. Direct call companies – Calls come in directly to you without going thru a dispatcher first. You will be responsible for processing the client’s payment or at least for verifying online that he has paid for the call. You need to be prepared to answer calls from callers who just want to ask questions or whose payments are declined, etc. Some companies provide and pay for your 800 number, some companies require you to provide your own 800 service. You may be required to have two phone lines and simultaneous Internet & phone access. Check the phone sex company’s requirements before applying. The rate of pay with Direct Call companies is usually higher than it is with dispatch companies.

3. Self-advertising or “trolling” companies This type of company requires you to do your own advertising & promotion to get callers. Some self-advertising companies will require you to be in various chat rooms to chat with potential callers so you may need to have chat programs on your computer and / or a subscription to the AOL service. Other types of advertising such as newsgroups, bulletin board posts, having a website and doing banner exchanges, etc etc could be required or suggested as part of the job. You’ll probably need to have an Internet connection that lets you be on the phone & the computer at the same time. You may have to provide your own 800 number service and/or have two phone lines also. Average pay is higher with self-advertising companies since you are required to bring in your own clients, but not everyone is able to do it successfully. The pay per minute ranges from .75 cents to a dollar per minute and above.

4. Combination services – will expect you to bring in some of your own clients through your own efforts but will also have a dispatch system set up where callers are routed to you. Requirements vary, check each phone sex company’s requirements before applying.

Another choice is phone sex affiliate programs. When you sign on with an affiliate program, you are an independent operator of your own business. The affiliate program supplies the phone number(s), the call routing and the payment processing for you. Your job is to set up your websites or other marketing programs and do the advertising. Some affiliate programs offer some basic tips and ideas on how to market your phone sex numbers and websites, but putting them to use and getting the calls is your responsibility. With some affiliate programs you have the option of taking calls yourself and making a higher commission, or just marketing the numbers and letting the affiliate company’s own operators handle the calls. Keen/Niteflirt could be placed in this category also, although it works a little differently than the other programs. With the difficulty of obtaining a merchant account these days, affiliate programs can be a great way for a one girl service to get started and you also have the benefit of having other performers available to handle your calls and help you earn money when you aren’t taking calls.
